FareShare, Yorkshire
What YCE did:
YCE were involved in this project from the very beginning.
FareShare is the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity.
They claim ‘We were born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste, especially when people are going hungry. This belief is as central to our work now as it was 25 years ago.’
YCE started the journey by listening to the non-profit organisation’s aspirations to build a development kitchen.
The main functions of this kitchen was to have the ability to offer cooking classes to its Community Food Team, and to be able to provide meals for its hard working volunteers. This in turn would Expand FareShare’s Employability programme to include cookery skills.
YCE worked entirely with FareShare on this project, not just in the kitchen, but including all turnkey works and the interiors.
Full Crumb Kitchen was born from an idea and was completed in February 2020.
